Hill Spills Holm!
Main Event an Upset But The Jackson/Winkeljohn Team Clean Up Undercard

The knockouts were plentiful, the beer-a-plenty, and all but one house fighter went home with a win.

Sunday night's "Triple Threat Fight Night" at Cowboy's Bar & Grill, promoted by first-time promoters GKB Productions, in association with Ring of Fire, packed a full house who came to watch bodies fly and bodies drop in seven bouts spilt between boxing, kickboxing and no-holds-barred fighting.

Unfortunately, the loss was dished out to main event fighter Holly Holm by a fighter who should not have been able to beat her--at least on paper.

In March of this year, Trisha "TNT" Hill was a featherweight who shocked the women's boxing world with a knockout win over IFBA champion Lisa Foster. Five weeks later, Hill was fighting in Albuquerque against 140-pound Holly Holm--and weighing in a solid 138 pounds on her 5'3" frame.

Still, on paper, Holly's height and reach would've been enough to secure her a "safe" win in her hometown. But Hill came to fight - and, true to her nickname "TNT", was packing heat in her gloves.

After six bouts of no-brain wins for the hometowners, Holm vs. Hill gave fans what they came for: one helluva fight.

Keeping the shorter Hill at bay, Holly managed to take the first two rounds with her kicks. Hill won the exchanges close quarter but Holm scored the damaging blows with her feet.

The tide changed in the second part of Round Three when Hill landed a bomb of a right hook that had Holm staggering. After tying up and then using kicks to fight back, Holm showed a big heart trying to win back the round.

Hill was relentless in closing the distance and suckering Holm into brawling. Early into the 4th, she landed a picture perfect right hand that flattened Holm to the canvas. While Holly continued to throw a half-hearted left right while horizontal, the ref jumped in and immediately stopped the contest after seeing Holms eyes roll dangerously back.

Holm experiences her first professional loss while Hill, a 5-2 boxer and 15-2 kickboxer, goes home with yet another major upset win.

The six-fight undercard started up with mixed martial art fighter Carlos Condit, who gets his second pro win with a bloody beating over the heavier, but less-skilled Tyrell McElroy.

McElroy was taken down and battered about on the canvas until the ref stopped the action to check out the splattered nose. The fight resumed but only until 2:49 when Condit had McElroy tapping out to a choke hold.

Fight #2 was a boxing match between pro debuter James Martinez and Denver's Lawrence Burrell.

Burrell lacked Martinez's ferocity and although fighting back despite a lack of sleep from a late arrival, was the only fighter to make it into the 2nd round on the undercard.

At 2:25 of the 2nd, the pro kickboxer Martinez, struggling to keep himself from throwing kicks, hammered away at Burrell until the ref stopped in and ended matters.

Martinez gets his first pro win while Burrell slips to 0-3.

Bout #3 was a no-holds-barred fight between 2-0 Shad Olvera and 2-0 Gerard Green from Carlsbad. The fight was a quickie: not long into the 1st, Olvera had applied a rear naked choke hold on Green who tapped out.

Kickboxer Terris James vs. Adam Garcia was next. This time, the fight went through four knockdowns and the time of 1:57 before the fight was called off in favor of James.

Fight #5 saw Tommy Aragon make a comeback fighter against 0-4 Tyree Tidwell.

Tidwell tried his best but after a couple knockdowns from the more experienced slugger Aragon, he could not make the count.

Coming off a tough knockout loss to Miguel "Conan" Torrecillas, Aragon now moves to 8-4.

The final undercard fight saw "Big" Dan Christison take on the shorter Albert Lopez in a no-holds-barred contest. Again, another short one: about halfway through the first round, Lopez, outgunned, was tapping out while Big Dan hammered him from above while straddling him.
