Golden Boy Announces Barrera vs. Peden, Signs Mosley

Las Vegas, NV: Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions officially announced today that Marco Antonio Barrera will face Robbie Peden on Saturday, September 17, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was also announced that Barrera has been promoted within Golden Boy to become the president of Golden Boy Mexico, the branch of the company that will discover and harvest promising fighters from Mexico.

Golden Boy also revealed that the promotional company has signed former world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley, making him the director of fighter relations. Mosley's job within the promotional giant will be helping out the amateur program within the sport of boxing as well as helping to discover young talent before they become seasoned professionals. At the same time, Mosley is scheduled to face Jose Luis Cruz on the undercard of Barrera/Peden. Golden Boy Promotions will sending out press releases in the next few weeks revealing the rest of the undercard for the HBO Pay Per View event, one that De La Hoya insists will be spectacular.
